I have 32 years and I was told I have macular degeneration Age related to what I can do to preseved vision?

They also told me that I have cataracts in both eyes. The macular degeneration is found mainly in older people. I have a lifetime history of asthma and an important part of my life was put on steroids which contributes to the cataract. What I can do to preserve the vision that is 20/20 I have a recipe soft.
