Dr. Folkman’s War: Angiogenesis and the Struggle to Defeat Cancer $19.00 In 1961, twenty-eight-year-old Dr. Judah Folkman saw something while doing medical research in a United States navy lab that gave him the first glimmering of a wild, inspired hunch. What if cancerous tumors, in order to expand, needed to trigger the growth of new blood vessels to feed themselves? And if that was true, what if a way could be found to stop that growth? Could cancers be starved to de… |

Retinal and Choroidal Angiogenesis $99.00 Retinal and choroidal angiogenesis are the leading causes of irreversible vision loss in developed countries. For this reason, ocular angiogenesis is an intensely studied process, and the field is advancing at an astounding pace. It has become increasingly difficult to manage the vast amount of information generated by the growing group of interested investigators, thus a resource is needed that d… |

Angiogenesis: Biology and Pathology (Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Medicine) $118.53 The generation of the vascular system is an important part of embryonic development. Formation of new blood vessels that supply growing tumors with nutrients is also an essential aspect of cancer progression. Work pioneered by researchers such as Judah Folkman, to whom this book is dedicated, has illuminated the mechanisms by which new blood vessels are produced and the vascular system as a whole … |
